Kalibo, Aklan, May 05, 2014 (MKWD) – The Metro Kalibo Water District (MKWD) recently unveiled its new water tank in Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan, along with news of its expansion of transmission lines to Cabugao, Batan, Aklan.
The Estancia Water Tank, which is eyed to start operation this month, will benefit the immediate area of Kalibo. The new tank will provide residents access to a supplementary source of water and can make an important contribution towards reducing the demand on main storages. It will also let the municipality size its pumps for average instead of peak demand, allowing the community to save money.
With the expansion of transmission lines to Cabugao, the MKWD coverage area is expected to better distribution for customers along the route as well as improve reliability for customers. This will also further support increased demand for water with limited impact to fish and wildlife compared to other alternative routes.
Estancia is where the provincial capitol complex of Aklan is located. It has a population of 8,672 as recorded in 2010.
As of 2007, Cabugao was recorded to have 1,784 residents.
