KALIBO, AKLAN (MKWD) – The Metro Kalibo Water District joined the entire province in celebrating Aklan Day last Saturday, April 25, 2015.
Assembling at 7:30 in the morning, employees of the MKWD weathered the intense heat of the summer sun in a parade honouring the liberation of Aklan as its own province. Steering the MKWD lines were Erwin F. Sy of the Finance Division and Leizl F. Valencia of the Office of the Board of Directors.
It was on April 25, 1956, when the province of Aklan gained its independence from the province of Capiz through the Republic Act No. 1414 signed by then President Ramon Magsaysay. Since that day, Aklanons have celebrated April 25 as Aklan Day.
This year, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva was invited to grace the celebration with his presence.
