KALIBO, AKLAN (MKWD) – For 38 years, the Metro Kalibo Water District (MKWD) has been providing quality water service to Aklanons and the province of Aklan, and on September 27, 2014, the MKWD Management and Staff took to the Wild West for some good old-fashioned dinner party.
The Grand Anniversary and Awards Night featured two awarding ceremonies—that of the Loyalty Awardees and that of the Winners of the MKWD Sportsfest 2014. All in all, there were 26 Loyalty Awardees, and the ceremony itself had to be cut in two parts, a performance by MKWD employees providing an entertaining segue.
Three more performances rounded out the evening, with the Office of the Board of Directors, the Office of the General Manager, the AFCS Department, the Finance Division, the Commercial Division, and the Production Division taking the stage to showcase their respective array of talents.
The General Manager of the MKWD, Edgar T. Isada, CPA, welcomed everyone with an inspirational message. Subsequently, Atty. Edmund R. Peralta, the Chairman of the Board, delivered a message from the Board of Directors. Rogelio M. Estanislao, OIC of the AFCS Department, provided the closing remarks. Hosting the anniversary program were Leizl F. Valencia and Jofer Serapio.
Earlier the same day, a Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at the lobby of the MKWD Andagao Office. It was followed shortly by a Bloodletting Activity, in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross, and then the Pinoy Games on the 4th floor of the same building.
Along with its 38th Anniversary, the MKWD also celebrated the 114th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service. The entire month of September laid witness to a series of events commemorating both celebrations, including the Decal Design Competition, the Concessionaires’ Delight, and the MKWD Sportsfest 2014.
The opening program of the MKWD Sportsfest 2014 was held on August 30 at the Andagao Office of the MKWD. With the assembly time scheduled at 8:00 AM, the program began with a prayer followed immediately by the Philippine National Anthem. General Manager Isada delivered his opening remarks. Erwin F. Sy of the Finance Division then led the Oath of Sportsmanship. At around 8:30 AM, the Zumba Dance began, and after a 15-minute break, segued to the opening bowling matches at Q-Zone Bowling Center before the opening basketball games at NVC Gym. The rest of the games, including the championships, were spread out during the succeeding weeks, with ball games on Saturdays and indoor games on Fridays. The opening program’s emcee was Anne Lhe B. Tulio of the Finance Division.
The Concessionaires’ Delight ran from September 15 to 19.
